Length is the wrong measure
The most common mistake in catamaran contracts is rating by length. A 12-metre catamaran carries two hulls, two drives, two rudder systems and roughly twice the beam of a monohull the same length. Replacement cost after a grounding or a berthing incident is correspondingly higher.
We rate on the actual construction and agree a value that reflects it. In a total loss you receive the agreed sum, not a depreciated figure.
Charter and cruising
Many catamarans spend part of the year in Croatia, Greece or the Caribbean. Our cruising range has no geographic limit and no time limit; no return date, no six-week holiday extension to arrange. Private chartering up to 30 days per insurance year is included with a written rental agreement.
Salvage, lifting and wreck removal are covered up to €2.5 million. Two providers in our survey offer this without limit; if your boat is large and your cruising ground remote, that difference is worth weighing.
