Third-party liability for boats
From approx. €39 a year with €10m to €50m cover; worldwide, including skipper liability, trailer, dinghy, marina damage and pollution.

What is covered
Personal injury, property damage and financial loss caused to third parties, plus the defence against unfounded claims. Included are chartered or borrowed boats through the built-in skipper liability, regattas and races, trailer and dinghy, occasional hire, search and assistance costs, pollution and water damage, damage to rented berths and claims between crew members.
Without liability cover you are personally liable under § 823 of the German Civil Code; in the case of personal injury also for treatment, damages for pain and suffering, loss of earnings and pensions.
Sums insured and foreign requirements
You choose €10m, €25m or €50m. In the premium tariff the same limit applies to pollution and environmental damage, including measures ordered by authorities.
Italy requires minimum limits of €6,070,000 for personal injury and €1,220,000 for property damage; Croatia, Denmark and Spain also require liability cover, sometimes checked before launching. Our tariffs meet those requirements and the certificate of insurance is issued in ten languages.
Frequently asked questions
Is my dinghy included?
Yes, if it is used with the mother vessel and declared in the application, in the premium tariff up to 10 m² sail area or 55 hp and within ten nautical miles of the mother vessel.
Am I covered on a chartered yacht?
Yes, through the built-in skipper liability: in the Basis-Plus tariff up to the size of your own boat, in the premium tariff without limit.
Are races covered?
Club regattas are included; open competitions are covered in the premium tariff, and motorboat or jet ski racing can be added as a separate extension.

No maintenance clauses, no radius limit around the berth, waiver of the gross negligence defence up to 50 per cent; and we are the most expensive provider in our own survey.

Genuinely worldwide, no hurricane or cyclone exclusion clauses, single-handed sailing and unwatched anchoring covered, berth anywhere in the world.
Compare our tariffs
Basis, Basis-Plus and Premium differ in sums insured, agreed value, gross negligence, salvage limits, the liability bail loan and assistance. Legal expenses cover carries its €200,000 bail loan in all three levels.
