Why do hurricane clauses matter?
They tie cover to securing measures; additional lashing, more fenders, unstepping masts. If they are not met, providers may reduce or refuse the payment. We do not use such clauses.
From what wind speed does a storm count?
Definitions vary. Several providers name a tropical storm from about 63 km/h, one from 118 km/h. Because we have no exclusion clause, the threshold does not affect your cover.
Is storm damage covered at all?
Yes; storm, lightning and fire damage is already included in partial hull cover, including in winter storage. Dragging, stranding and collision are covered under full hull cover.
Where does this matter most?
In the Caribbean, the Bahamas, Bermuda and tropical regions, where competitor policies typically restrict cover for several months of the year.
