Worth knowing
Windy Boats; cover, cost and conditions
Windy from Norway builds sports boats with a reputation for seaworthiness, deep V hulls, high quality workmanship, mostly sterndrive or inboard. The boats are frequently used on the Baltic and the Mediterranean and hold their value well.
Because of that stability of value the agreed value is more important here than on production boats: on a well kept Windy a scale of values based on the year of build regularly comes out too low. The most frequent expensive claim is damage to the drive after a grounding, so full hull cover, not limited hull cover.

For the Windy 22 / 26 (classic) by Windy series there is no list price left.
That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it,
and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
As the Windy 27 Solano / 29 Coho, Windy 34 Alizé Camira,
Windy SR44 / SR52 by Windy and 3 more series are still in production,
parts are available and repair costs are predictable.
Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
For the Windy 24 HC / 8000 by Windy series the market value and the replacement cost often differ
widely.
An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
For the Windy 22 / 26 (classic), Windy 27 Solano / 29 Coho, Windy 27 / 29 Coho by Windy series:
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part.
Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
For the Windy 34 Alizé Camira, Windy SR44 / SR52, Windy 39 / 46 by Windy and further series:
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value.
Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
