The claims lab
Seven cases from practice, three tariffs side by side. The bar shows what arrives, the hatched part behind it is what you carry yourself. And the toggle shows what a moment of carelessness costs.
1, What happened?
2, How expensive?
3, And if it is your fault?
A seacock not closed, a forgotten impeller, a glance at the phone at the wrong moment. Flip the switch.
Run aground
Rudder blade bent, shaft out of true, saildrive leaking. The most frequently reported cause of damage of all.
Stranding and accident damage is only covered under full cover. Partial cover knows only fire, storm, theft.
All-risks cover: stranding, capsizing, sinking are included.
All-risks cover: stranding, capsizing, sinking are included.
Model calculation with a sum insured of €120,000 and a €500 deductible. On theft the deductible falls away. Only your policy document is binding.
What you see in the lab
Storm, fire and theft of the whole boat are covered in all three tariffs, nothing differs there. The difference begins where a person was involved: running aground, the stolen outboard, the forgotten seacock. Those are also the most frequent claims.
