Wreck removal

Boat insurance term, area: Hull

Harbour authorities and other public bodies can order a wreck to be removed. These costs are a separate item and arise on top of the settlement for the boat, even when she has already been paid out as a total loss. Marina contracts commonly make the owner responsible for removing a sunken boat from the berth.

What to check: Is wreck removal included, under hull or under liability, and is it paid in addition to the sum insured? Does the cover still apply after the boat has been settled as a total loss?
