How the place works
Narrows, current out of the Sea of Marmara and continuous traffic in both directions: the strait is one of the busiest in the world and has its own traffic rules. The surface current sets southwest and reaches several knots in the narrows.
What breaks there
Yachts come into conflict with commercial vessels bound to the channel while crossing or trying to make northeast against the stream. Engine failure here is not an annoyance but an emergency.
