How the place works
The northeastern corner of the Mediterranean is a handling point for oil and containers, with roads full of waiting ships and traffic concentrated on a few approaches. Proximity to the Syrian border makes the region politically sensitive.
What breaks there
Yachts end up between anchored and manoeuvring ships, and anchoring near the roads is not welcomed by the authorities. Material damage arises when giving way and when berthing in harbours not set up for yachts.
What this means for your policy
Settle where your cruising range ends in the eastern Mediterranean: for many policies Cyprus or the southern Turkish coast is the boundary. And expect acts of war in this region to be expressly excepted.
