How the place works
The IJsselmeer is shallow, only a few metres on average, so wind builds a short, hard sea very quickly. In the Wadden Sea beyond, the tide is added: gullies shift, buoys are moved, and last year's chart is wrong in places.
What breaks there
Grounding here is the rule, not the exception. Usually nothing visible happens, and that is precisely the problem: a bent rudder stock or a cracked engine mount shows up weeks later as water ingress or vibration.
What this means for your policy
Report every grounding, even when nothing is visible. Anyone who keeps quiet and later reports the consequential damage as a separate case has lost control of the causal link. And check who pays for the inspection after taking the ground.
