Condition record

Condition record for the agreed value

Three A4 pages, fill them in once and then put them away. Sheet 1 takes the details of the boat and the condition of the eight main groups, sheet 2 the value-bearing equipment and the larger investments, sheet 3 the evidence, the proposed sum insured and the signatures. Voluntary, and after a total loss your most important piece of evidence.

Only the sheet itself is printed, without the navigation and the footer. A voluntary working aid: the sheet is not a precondition for the agreed value, it is not a valuation survey and it is not legal advice. It is a translation of a German original and refers to German law.

Why this sheet exists

From Basis PLUS upwards we insure at an agreed value: after a total loss the agreed sum applies, with no deduction for age. Unlike some insurers, we do not make this sheet a condition of that. The agreed value does have a limit, and it is written into German law: under section 76 VVG (German Insurance Contract Act) it counts as the insured value only so far as it does not substantially exceed the real value. Anyone who documents the condition of their boat beforehand has something in hand if it is ever disputed. Anyone who does not is later arguing about memories. That is why this sheet is voluntary, and in your own interest.

What to do with it

Send us the sheet together with the photographs; it is then kept with your policy and taken into account when a claim comes in. Or keep it and produce it only then: it still works after the event, as long as it is dated and the photographs show the condition at that time. Update it after larger investments and tell us the higher sum; an endorsement costs no more than the difference in premium. We ask for a valuation report only for home-built boats and conversions.
