How the place works
The Obersee lies between the Alps and the foothills, and both send wind. The föhn from the south reaches storm force in gusts under a blue sky; summer thunderstorms from the west build in twenty minutes. The storm warning given by the orange flashing lights is binding and counts as official.
What breaks there
Capsizes and flooding in dinghies and open boats, damage at mooring buoys and in the tight harbours. The lake is deep, salvage means a diver and a crane, and that turns even a small case expensive.

The Lake Constance navigation rules require you to make for the nearest harbour when a storm warning is given. Anyone leaving despite the warning will be arguing about the duty in a claim. Also check whether salvage costs are insured separately and at a sufficient level.
