Untersee and Seerhein: how the place works
The Untersee is much shallower than the Obersee, and current runs in the Seerhein between Konstanz and Gottlieben. The level varies by more than a metre and a half through the year: what carries water in June is silt in February.
Untersee and Seerhein: what breaks there
Grounding in the shallows outside the channel, propeller and rudder damage in the reed belt, and contact with pontoons at unusually low water. Rarely serious, but frequent.
