How the place works
Off the Mauritanian coast lie wide banks reaching far offshore, and the charts here are markedly less accurate than in Europe. The Banc d'Arguin is a national park with its own rules, and fishing with unlit boats and nets is routine.
What breaks there
Grounding on an uncharted bank and nets in the propeller are the typical cases. Both happen at night, and both are hard to resolve on this coast: yard and diver are hundreds of miles away.
What this means for your policy
Settle how far salvage costs extend and whether they are paid in addition to the sum insured. On this coast that decides whether a boat is repaired or abandoned.
