Superyacht insurance

From about twenty-four metres the situation changes: a superyacht is a business. There is paid crew, often an operating company, a flag state with its own requirements and usually a charter operation that has to be insured as well. Feadship, Lürssen, Benetti, Heesen, Oceanco, Amels, Sanlorenzo, Perini Navi, Baglietto and Royal Huisman build in this range, almost always as one-offs.

The boat policy in the narrow sense is only one part. Added to it are liability towards the crew, cover for charter and guest operation, cargo and tenders, often several tenders and watersports craft, and wreck removal, which at this size needs a limit of its own. Contracts like these do not come from a form but from a conversation about operation, route and crew.

Is the crew covered?

Not in the boat policy. Paid crew need their own cover, which we set up together with you.
