The sheet records the condition at the moment of handover: who is involved and why, the boat details, the condition in eight groups, the inventory, the papers and the signature of both sides. It suits a sale and a purchase, the start and the return of a charter, the yard and winter storage. After a loss it is your proof from day one. Printed it comes out as two A4 sheets: the first carries the five sections, the second the insurance note and the signatures.

Insurance note
This record documents the condition at the moment of handover and is an important piece of evidence after a loss. Under German insurance law an existing policy does not pass to the buyer; where hull cover is in force, provisional cover applies for one month from the change of owner (the purchase price shown in the contract of sale governs, up to the previous sum insured at most). Outside Germany other rules apply, so ask. It is best to take out your own cover before the handover, then the lift and the road transport are covered too.
