Logbook
Logbook day sheet, to print out
One day on a sheet of A4, landscape: at the top the day and the vessel with departure, arrival and engine hours, below twenty lines for time, position, course, speed, log, wind, weather, barometer and remarks. An entry written at the time is the strongest evidence of what happened, of the weather and of the hour if it ever comes to a claim.

Please choose landscape in the print dialogue, the sheet is A4 landscape. Only the sheet itself is printed, without the navigation and the footer. A working aid without legal force, no substitute for an official ship's log where one is required.

Worth its weight in gold in a claim
An entry written at the time is the strongest evidence of what happened, of the weather and of the hour; after a grounding, a collision or storm damage it often decides whether the claim is accepted. Note incidents straight away, not in the evening from memory, and photograph the sheet after the trip.
