Six providers, two jet skis: what a market survey shows

What a market survey of six quotes actually shows is not the cheapest premium. It is how differently the wordings insure the same craft.

1 July 2026Market surveyNAMMERT Assekuradeur GmbH

For the survey dated 1 July 2026 we asked six providers in the German market to quote the same two craft: a jet ski of 115 hp, built 2023, insured value 11,500 euro, and one of 250 hp, built 2026, 30,000 euro. We did not only compare premiums but 23 coverage points taken from the original policy wordings.

On price we are not the answer for everyone, and the survey says so. Our German pages show where we were not the cheapest, with the reasoning, because a comparison in which one provider wins every line is not a survey.

The finding that matters more is about wording, not price. Reading the six originals side by side showed that one provider's jet ski wording simply leaves out collision, grounding and operating error. Racing, training and a seasonal policy also differed: in our comparison they could not be insured with every provider.

That is the difference a price comparison cannot show you. Two policies with the same name can insure quite different events. What decides a claim is the wording itself: which events it lists, what it excludes and how it defines an accident, and that is often less than a buyer assumes.

Every line in the published comparison carries its own provenance: either the quoted passage from the policy wording or a note that it comes from our own enquiry. Where we hold no reliable source, that is stated and the line does not count towards the totals.

The same request to six providers, the offers compared line by line across 23 benefit points

Common questions

Do the premiums apply to a boat kept outside Germany?

No. They were quoted for a German domicile. Domicile and flag both feed into the rating, so a quote for another country can differ substantially.

How do I tell whether a wording is all risks or named perils?

Look for the list. If the document enumerates insured events, it is named perils. If it enumerates exclusions and insures everything else, it is all risks.
