German jet ski champion races number 94 in the NAMMERT Ranking

The first athlete in the NAMMERT Ranking is a champion. Justin P. of the German Jet Sport Association (DJSV) won the 2026 German championship in jet ski racing, Runabout GP2 class. In the 2027 season he will race with number 94 and the NAMMERT logo on his hull. For anyone who races a jet ski, in Germany or travelling there to compete, the story comes with a practical lesson.

The title was close. The DJSV Jetboot Cup 2026 was decided over two rounds: at Lake Halbendorf in May and at Lake Runstedt from 11 to 13 September, both in eastern Germany. Justin P. took the GP2 title with 138 points, just ahead of the runner up, who fought for it until the final race. In the faster GP1 class he finished third overall after racing only one weekend, winning all three GP1 heats at Lake Runstedt, where 31 riders from six nations were on the start line.

The practical lesson concerns insurance. According to a notice from the DMYV, the German federation that issues racing licences, dated 7 July 2026, liability and accident insurance will no longer be part of the racing licence from 2027. Every rider has to bring their own proof of cover. Racers who assumed the licence took care of it will need to sort this out before next season.

Many ordinary jet ski liability policies exclude racing and training, which is exactly where accidents happen in this sport. When reading the wording, check three things: whether racing and training are named as included or listed as an exclusion, whether transport on the trailer and time in the paddock are part of it, and whether training days away from an official event count. Ask the insurer for written confirmation, because the organiser will want to see the proof.

The ranking itself has nothing to do with insurance. Anyone can take part without a policy with NAMMERT. Athletes who race with the NAMMERT logo at a publicly advertised event get their entry fee back, up to €100 per event and €400 per season, from a pot of €10,000 for 2027. Points are awarded for taking part, never for position or speed, and jet ski has its own table, with a King of NAMMERT at the end of the season.

The 2027 race calendar lists events for jet ski, sailing and the other sports. The season runs from 1 April to 31 October 2027. Justin P. is the first name in the table: number 94, category jet ski, club DJSV.
