Platinum Boat App: the boat file on your phone, not in a soggy folder
A marine surveyor on the Costa Brava built an app that keeps receipts, papers and service history in one place. What it changes after a loss, and a code for 10 per cent off for good.

Most owners know the moment. The insurer asks for the invoice for the chartplotter, and the folder is at home, in the boat shed or gone after the last move. Axel Albrot sees that moment more often than most. He runs the SeaHelp base on the Costa Brava and is a certified marine surveyor. Out of that daily work came the Platinum Boat App, a digital boat file that lives on your phone.
The trigger was a survey after a sailing boat sank. The owner had to prove around 70,000 euros of investment in the boat, item by item, with receipts scattered over many years. The idea took shape in November 2025. The app now runs on iPhone and Android and, according to the provider, is offered in ten languages and 175 countries. It is operated by his Spanish company, Boot Experte Costa Brava S.L.
The app holds boat details, insurance documents, certificates, photos and manuals for up to three boats. Engines and equipment get their own entries with their paperwork, and maintenance, inspections and appointments can be planned. Every investment sits in a list with its purchase receipt. The data is stored on the provider's servers rather than only on the handset, so if the phone goes over the side, the file does not go with it.
From an insurance point of view this is where the value lies. After a claim, the owner has to show what was on board and what it cost. With hull cover, a total loss or a theft quickly turns into a discussion about retrofitted equipment: plotter, autopilot, covers, a new outboard. An owner who has the invoice and a photo to hand is settled faster than one who first has to write to old dealers. The list also shows whether the sum insured in the policy still matches the boat; our boat value calculator helps with that.

What happens when the insurer asks for receipts?
10 per cent off for good, for our readers
Annual planNAMMERT1 Monthly planNAMMERT12For the claim itself the app has a report with photos, a cost estimate and a signature that can be forwarded to the insurer or broker. It does not replace a surveyor, but it makes the first notification complete, which matters because most wordings expect prompt notice with evidence. At a check on the water, documents can be shown as a PDF or through a QR code that expires after 15 minutes. It does not replace the originals that have to be carried on board.
When the boat is sold, its history can be handed to the buyer, in full or in part, also as a PDF. A buyer wants to know what they are taking on, and a complete service and invoice history is an argument on price that nobody has to dig out at the last minute. It is also a good moment to read the policy: in many contracts liability ends with the sale, while hull cover may pass to the new owner.
Readers of this magazine get a discount that does not stop after the first year. The code NAMMERT1 takes 10 per cent off the annual plan and NAMMERT12 takes 10 per cent off the monthly plan, both for good. According to the provider the annual plan costs 89 euros (September 2026); the price shown in the App Store or on Google Play is what counts. Axel Albrot explains the features in short videos on his YouTube channel @PlatinumBoatApp.

Common questions
What is the Platinum Boat App?
A digital boat file for iPhone and Android: boat details, papers, manuals, maintenance, investments with receipts and a claim report in one app, for up to three boats. It was developed by marine surveyor Axel Albrot.
How do I get the 10 per cent discount?
Use NAMMERT1 for the annual plan or NAMMERT12 for the monthly plan. The discount is permanent, so it applies at every renewal and not only the first time.
Does the app replace notifying my insurer?
No. It helps you put together a complete claim with photos, a cost estimate and receipts, but the notification still goes to your insurer or broker under the terms of your policy.
