3D Marine; cover, cost and conditions

The 3D Marine range covers 107 models built since 2012, mostly rigid inflatable boats plus soft floor inflatables and two motor boats. The Fastcat, Dream, Heavy Duty XPRO and FX lines span the whole range, from a 1.6 metre tender up to an 8.6 metre RIB, with the emphasis on boats between two and four metres.

For insurance on a 3D Marine boat that means two things. On small models such as the Fastcat 200 or the Dream 340 liability is the basis, and transport on a trailer or on the deck of a larger yacht can be included. On the big RIBs such as the FX 580 or the eight metre models the value and cruising area need to be stated precisely, because they are used independently and often close inshore. For the earliest model years from 2012 an agreed value is clearer than a depreciated value.

Frequent questions

Does a 3D Fastcat 230 used as a tender need its own policy?

A tender of that size can run under the mother yacht policy or be insured separately. On the small 3D Marine models of two to three metres liability is the core of the cover.

What matters when insuring a 3D FX 580?

At 5.8 metres it is one of the larger RIBs in the range and is normally used on its own. Cruising area and value should therefore be stated precisely, and trailer transport can be included.
