If you are taking over a used inflatable boat with an engine, you should establish its value before the purchase. For A.W. Niemeyer, 17 model ranges are recorded, among them the ALB and the RIB model ranges, which have been listed since 2009 and 2017 respectively and continue to this day. For the full hull cover we agree an agreed value that applies in the event of a claim with no deduction for depreciation (new for old).
The recorded ranges are consistently inflatable boats with an engine. This means the engine power is one of the features that determine the premium, alongside the type of boat, value, year of construction and cruising range. The outboard is included in the full hull cover under theft of parts, and the boat trailer is covered at no extra premium.
Because production of the ALB and RIB ranges continues to this day, new and older boats sit side by side. We provide cover regardless of the year of construction, the place of purchase and previous owners, and in the Premium tariff the agreed value applies with no age limit. Cover also applies in winter storage, during craning, during launching and while in transport.

Frequent questions
Does cover also apply to the outboard on the inflatable boat?
Yes. Theft of parts including the outboard is part of the full hull cover, as are collision, grounding and vandalism. The trailer used for transport is included in the boat insurance at no additional premium.
How does the year of construction of an AWN model affect the contract?
The year of construction feeds into the premium, but it excludes nothing. We provide cover regardless of the year of construction, the place of purchase and previous owners, and in the Premium tariff the agreed value applies with no age limit.

As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On an inflatable the cause decides, not the damage: a tear from impact is covered, porous fabric after years in the sun is not. The outboard belongs in the policy with its serial number.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
Even without an engine the rule holds: a tear from impact or vandalism is covered, UV ageing is wear.
