Aspen Power Catamarans; cover, cost and conditions
Aspen Power Catamarans is recorded with 13 models, eleven of them power catamarans. The C range comprises the C90 Cruiser, C100, C105, C107, C108, C120 and C150, covering 8.9 to 14.6 m. Alongside them stand the L90 LX and L107, the 28 F-90 Fishing version and the K90 at 9.3 m. Recorded production runs from 2007 into the current model years.
An Aspen power catamaran is mostly used for longer coastal passages and for fishing trips, so the cruising area and the equipment carried on board belong in the application. Because the range spans 8.5 to 14.6 m, length and value need to be stated accurately; the risk on a C90 differs clearly from that on a C150. For multihulls, cover that expressly includes the drive train and electronics is advisable.
NAMMERT insures Aspen Power Catamarans regardless of year of build and place of purchase, imports included. Power catamarans are rated in the same process as other motorboats. The premium is settled in the online quote tool in about five minutes.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Is an Aspen C120 insured like a motor yacht?
In principle yes. The twin hull is taken into account because it affects value and repair, but the process is the same as for a motor yacht of comparable length.
Is fishing equipment on board covered?
On models such as the 28 F-90 Fishing, permanently fitted equipment can be included in the hull cover. Loose items must be accounted for in the declared value.

As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On catamarans the bridgedeck between the hulls is the sensitive part, and the berth belongs in the application: double width often means a mooring rather than a marina.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
