Custom Boat belongs to the boat class. For the insurance the builder is never a reason to decline: what decides is the type of boat, its year, its value, its engine output and the waters you sail, the five figures you enter in the online calculator.

Which cover suits a Custom Boat? Liability is the foundation and settles injury, property and financial damage to third parties with €10 m to €50 m. Hull cover protects your own boat: partial cover for fire, storm, lightning, theft of the whole boat and damage in winter storage; full cover adds collision, grounding, vandalism and theft of parts, the outboard included.

What this means for the cover

As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.

On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.

On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
