Egret Boats; cover, cost and conditions
An outboard can be unscrewed without the boat itself disappearing. That is exactly what theft of parts including the outboard in the full hull cover is there for. For the Egret 167, 189, 290, 306 and 2011 models, built since 2006 and up to the present day, this is a load bearing part of the cover, ashore as well as on the water.
The programme comprises five model ranges, all listed as motor boats, and production continues to the present day. You will therefore come across young as well as older units. Both are insured, because we provide cover regardless of the year of construction, the place of purchase and previous owners, and in the Premium tariff the agreed value applies with no age limit.
The premium is based on the type of boat, value, year of construction, engine power and cruising range, never on the brand. A boat trailer is included at no extra premium, and the cover also applies in winter storage, during craning, during launching and while the boat is in transit. Up to a sum insured of 2.5 million euros the policy can be taken out online.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Is the outboard protected against theft?
Yes. Theft of parts including the outboard is part of the full hull cover. Theft of the whole boat is already contained in the limited hull cover, as are fire, storm and lightning strike.
Does the cover apply at night as well?
Yes. It applies around the clock, on the water as well as in winter storage, during craning, launching and while the boat is in transit.

As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
