Worth knowing
Naval Force 3; cover, cost and conditions
Naval Force 3 appears in the NAMMERT data set with 22 multihulls: sailing catamarans such as the Tropic range from Tropic 12 to Tropic 52, the Piana 30 and 37 and the Challenge 30, plus Enthousiaste beach catamarans and the Challenge 37 trimaran. They were built between 1985 and 2009 with lengths from 2.4 to 20 metres.
The span from beach catamaran to 20 metre cruising catamaran calls for differentiated cover: for the small, trailerable boats liability is the basis and transport should be included. For the large catamarans value and cruising area count, and for the older build years an agreed fixed value is recommended.
NAMMERT insures Naval Force 3 regardless of build year and place of purchase. The premium for Naval Force 3 insurance can be calculated in the online calculator in 5 minutes.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Does NAMMERT insure a Tropic 15?
Yes. The Tropic 15 is a sailing catamaran of just over 15 metres built between 1985 and 1997. It can be covered with liability and hull insurance, at this age best with an agreed fixed value.
Do I need separate insurance for a small Enthousiaste beach catamaran?
Liability cover is strongly recommended as the basis, even for beach catamarans of 2.4 to 3.1 metres. Hull cover and trailer transport can be added as needed.

For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
On catamarans the bridgedeck between the hulls is the sensitive part, and the berth belongs in the application: double width often means a mooring rather than a marina.
On a trimaran the floats and their beams are the weak point, on folding models the mechanism as well.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
Open catamarans are beached and trailed, so most damage happens ashore and in transit, not on the water.
