Worth knowing
SurfRider International Ltd.; cover, cost and conditions
Five model ranges are recorded, the Surfrider Patrol 14 and 17, the Sport 14, the Warrior 28 and the Renegade 33. Production ran from 1989 to 2004. As these are all motor boats and motor yachts, the engine output goes into the premium alongside the type of boat, the value, the year of construction and the cruising range.
The Renegade 33 ran from 1991 to 2004, the other ranges ended in 1996. No new units are being added, so it is a matter of used boats. The agreed value records their value, compensation is paid with no deduction for depreciation (new for old), in the Premium tariff with no age limit.
Full hull cover includes collision, grounding, vandalism and theft of parts including the outboard. Cover also applies in winter storage and during craning, launching and transport. Tell us where the boat is stored so it is named in the contract.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Why do you ask about the engine output?
On motor boats it is one of the factors for the premium, alongside the type of boat, the value, the year of construction and the cruising range. On sailing boats the sail area takes its place.
Can boats from 1989 still be insured?
Yes. We insure regardless of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners. In the Premium tariff the agreed value applies with no age limit, so that the agreed amount is maintained.

Series by SurfRider International Ltd., build years and cover
Renegade 33 is a motor yacht from SurfRider International Ltd., built from 1991 to 2004.
Surfrider Patrol 14 is a motorboat from SurfRider International Ltd., built from 1989 to 1996.
Surfrider Patrol 17 is a motorboat from SurfRider International Ltd., built from 1989 to 1996.
Surfrider Sport 14 is a motorboat from SurfRider International Ltd., built from 1989 to 1996.
Warrior 28 is a motor yacht from SurfRider International Ltd., built from 1989 to 1996.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
