Whaly builds rotationally moulded polyethylene boats that are practically indestructible. For clubs, schools and water rescue services that is the reason why they are everywhere. In insurance terms it means: the hull value is low, but the liability risk is just as high as with any other boat. Third-party liability matters more here than hull insurance.
If a club uses the boat, the question of who is insured needs to be settled. Our boat third-party liability covers the keeper and the authorised helmsmen, not automatically everyone who happens to cast off. For clubs with changing users there is a club solution that reflects exactly that.
Personal accident cover is the second element that counts on training and safety boats. It applies to everyone on board and also takes effect when boarding and disembarking. On a boat costing two or three thousand euros, injury to people is the real risk, not the hull.

Is hull insurance worthwhile on a boat costing three thousand euros?
Rarely. Third-party liability and personal accident cover matter more. Anyone who trailers the boat regularly may still find hull insurance sensible because of the transport and theft risk.
Does the cover also apply to other helmsmen in the club?
