If you take over a second-hand motorboat, you should set the insured value before the handover. For A.j.enterprises we have the AJ 28 model range on file, a motorboat that has been built since 2018 and to this day. For full hull cover we set an agreed value that applies in the event of a claim with no deduction for depreciation (new for old).
Cover starts with third-party liability with a sum insured of 10 to 50 million euros in the Basis, Basis-Plus and Premium levels. Full hull cover builds on this and includes collision, grounding, vandalism and theft of parts including the outboard. In this way a new boat is covered just as an older unit is.
Because the range is still being built today, you will find both new boats and used units. In both cases the premium is based on the type of boat, the value, the year of construction, the engine power and the cruising range, never on the brand. Up to a sum insured of 2.5 million euros you take out cover online, above that we assess each case individually.

What details do you need for a quotation for the AJ 28?
The type of boat, the value, the year of construction, the engine power and the planned cruising range are enough. The premium follows from these details, the brand itself does not enter the calculation.
Is the boat trailer included in the premium?
Yes. The boat trailer is included in the boat insurance at no extra premium. Cover also applies during winter storage, when craning, when launching and in transit.

As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
