Worth knowing
Amberlat Technology; cover, cost and conditions
Amberlat Technology is listed with 13 models, all motorboats. The Amber range runs from the 300 through 310, 315, 360, 365, 430, 450, 510 and 595 to the 600, the figure giving the length in centimetres. Several models carry the code E for the electric version. Build years run since 2011, lengths from 3 to 6 m.
Small boats on inland waters need liability cover above all; in many waters it is compulsory or a condition of the berth. On the electric versions the battery is added as a value defining item. It should be explicitly part of the sum insured, because it reacts sensitively to water ingress and is the most expensive single item after a loss.
NAMMERT insures Amber boats regardless of build year and place of purchase. As these boats are trailerable, transport and theft belong in the hull cover, and the cruising area should cover every water of your season. You can calculate the premium for liability and hull cover in the online calculator in about 5 minutes.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
What does the E in the model name mean?
It marks the electrically driven version. For the premium it is not the type of drive that counts but value, length and cruising area. The battery should, however, be explicitly included in the sum insured.
Is liability cover compulsory on inland waters?
That depends on the water; in many cases yes. Harbours and clubs often require proof of it for a berth as well. It makes sense in any case, because damage to other boats quickly runs high.

As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
