Fourteen ranges are recorded for K & S Polyboats, motor boats and sailing boats side by side: the Kilkruiser from 1965 to 1990, the Oceaan models from 1971 to 1988 as well as the motor yachts Argo 850 and Kilkruiser 860. Four boats of the brand are insured with us, among them a 530 and a 650.
Boats of these years mostly spend the winter ashore. The limited hull cover expressly names damage in winter storage, as well as fire, storm, lightning strike and theft of the whole boat. The cover also remains in place during craning, during launching and in transit.
In the full hull cover we agree an agreed value and pay compensation with no deduction for depreciation. Year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners are no obstacle to acceptance. For an Oceaan the sail area counts instead of the engine output, alongside type of boat, value, year of construction and cruising range.

Frequent questions
Is a Kilkruiser covered in winter storage?
Yes. Damage in winter storage forms part of the limited hull cover, as do fire, storm, lightning strike and theft of the whole boat. Craning, launching and transit are included as well.
Can I use the same policy for a sailing boat of the Oceaan range?
Yes, only the basis of the premium changes: with sailing boats the sail area counts instead of the engine output, together with type of boat, value, year of construction and cruising range. Club races are included from Basis-Plus upwards.

Licence
A powerboat licence (inland or coastal) is required from 15 hp (11.03 kW).
Registration

For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
On boats this size the condition of rig and fittings decides. A dismasting is covered, worn terminals after years are not.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
