Raptor; cover, cost and conditions

The Raptor 26 and the Raptor 27 are the two sailing yachts on record, built from 2002 and 2004 respectively until 2022. Both model ranges have since been discontinued. Anyone sailing such a yacht in club races is covered from the Basis-Plus tariff upwards.

Races with ranking status are declared when you take out the policy so that they are taken into account in the contract. Full hull cover covers collision, grounding, vandalism and theft of parts including the outboard, and pays compensation with no deduction for depreciation (new for old), in the Premium tariff with no age limit.

For a sailing yacht the premium is based on sail area, type of boat, value, year of construction and cruising range. Since production ended in 2022, today it is a matter of used boats, which changes nothing about the cover. We insure regardless of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners.

From which tariff are races included?

Club races are included from Basis-Plus upwards. Report races with ranking status when you take out the policy so that the contract covers them expressly.

Does anything change because the model range has been discontinued?

No. We insure regardless of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners. The value is set as an agreed value and applies in that form in the event of a claim.

A powerboat licence (inland or coastal) is required from 15 hp (11.03 kW).

Registration

Registration from 3 hp; for trips abroad carry the boat certificate or flag document.

Lifesaving gear, fire extinguisher, anchor, signalling equipment and correct navigation lights.

What this means for the cover

For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.

On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
