Skipperland; cover, cost and conditions

Eight model ranges are in the catalogue, predominantly motor boats: 295 Fun, 420 Cabin, 420 Family, 420 Fishcab, Adriano, Rower and the 430 C, which already began in 2017, the others from 2018. Production runs to the present day. A Family 420 and a 430 C are part of our portfolio.

If an outboard is fitted, it is covered under the full hull cover through theft of parts, as are collision, grounding and vandalism. The theft of the entire boat already falls under the limited hull cover, together with fire, storm, lightning strike and damage in winter storage.

The boat trailer is included at no extra premium, and the cover applies during craning, during launching and in transit. Up to a sum insured of 2.5 million euros cover can be taken out online, above that an individual review follows.

Frequent questions

Is a removed outboard insured against theft?

Theft of parts including the outboard is covered under the full hull cover. If, on the other hand, the entire boat is stolen, the limited hull cover already applies, which also includes fire, storm and lightning strike.

Does it make a difference whether a 420 Cabin or a 420 Fishcab is insured?

For the premium the type of boat, value, year of construction, engine power and cruising range count. Different versions of the same range have an effect only in so far as the value or the engine differ.

A powerboat licence (inland or coastal) is required from 15 hp (11.03 kW).

Registration

Registration from 3 hp; for trips abroad carry the boat certificate or flag document.

Waters

Inland, coastal and abroad; plan fairways, bridge clearances, draught and tides.

Equipment

Lifesaving gear, fire extinguisher, anchor, signalling equipment and correct navigation lights.

Cruising range

The agreed cruising range is stated in the policy and can be extended at any time.

Weather

Check wind force in Beaufort and wind direction before casting off, and allow for gusts.

As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.

On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
