Worth knowing
Star-Cat; cover, cost and conditions
The cabin catamaran Efcat 25 is the only range recorded for Star-Cat and was built between 1983 and 1991. For a boat from that time the valuation is the decisive question. Under full hull cover NAMMERT agrees an agreed value and pays in the event of a claim with no deduction for depreciation ("new for old").
In the Premium tariff, full hull cover applies without an age limit, so that years of construction from the eighties also remain fully protected. Included are collision, grounding, vandalism and theft of parts including the outboard, plus winter storage, craning, launching and the transport route.
Further details of the building programme are not available, and for the rating they are not needed: type of boat, value, year of construction, engine power or sail area and cruising range produce the premium. The basis remains the third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
How is the agreed value arrived at?
It is agreed between you and NAMMERT when the policy is taken out and reflects the value of the boat together with the recorded equipment. In the event of a claim, compensation is paid with no deduction for depreciation ("new for old").
Does a catamaran from 1983 remain eligible for full hull cover?
In the Premium tariff, full hull cover applies without an age limit. NAMMERT provides cover regardless of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners, including for model ranges discontinued long ago.

Series by Star-Cat, build years and cover
Efcat 25 is a cabin catamaran from Star-Cat, built from 1983 to 1991.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On catamarans the bridgedeck between the hulls is the sensitive part, and the berth belongs in the application: double width often means a mooring rather than a marina.
