Worth knowing
Starline; cover, cost and conditions
Two model ranges are recorded under Starline, the 190 Sundown as a motor boat and the 230 Sundown as a motor yacht, both with years of construction from 1986 to 1992. With powered boats the engine power enters into the premium, along with the type of boat, value, year of construction and cruising range.
Both ranges ran in the same period and are no longer built. Cover is granted regardless of the year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners. Full hull cover records the value as an agreed value, indemnifies with no deduction for depreciation (new for old) and applies with no age limit in the Premium tariff.
Collision, grounding, vandalism and theft of parts including the outboard are part of full hull cover. Limited hull cover covers fire, storm, lightning strike, theft of the entire boat and damage in winter storage. A boat trailer is included in the boat insurance at no extra premium.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Is a motor boat classified differently from a motor yacht?
The type of boat enters into the premium alongside value, year of construction, engine power and cruising range. The scope of cover made up of third-party liability, limited hull cover and full hull cover is structured in the same way in both cases.
Does a more powerful engine increase the premium?
The engine power is one of the factors in the calculation, alongside the type of boat, value, year of construction and cruising range. The brand of the boat, by contrast, has no effect on the premium.
The cover that fits
For the whole class of boat
What matters for your boat depends less on the brand than on engine output, how a claim is settled and the waters you sail.

Series by Starline, build years and cover
190 Sundown is a motorboat from Starline, built from 1986 to 1992.
230 Sundown is a motor yacht from Starline, built from 1986 to 1992.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
