Worth knowing
Twister Boats; cover, cost and conditions
Two model ranges are documented, the Ocean Pro 6.3 and the Twister 7.0, both as inflatable boats and both built between 1997 and 2005. Production lies in the past, so anyone using such a boat today has taken it over second hand. It is insured nevertheless, regardless of the year of construction, the place of purchase and previous owners.
Inflatable boats mostly spend the winter ashore or in storage. Cover applies in winter storage, during craning, during launching and in transit; there, limited hull cover covers fire, storm, lightning strike and the theft of the entire boat.
If an outboard is used, it belongs in the list of values, because full hull cover covers theft of parts including the outboard. The trailer is included at no extra premium. For boats of this age the agreed value remains the decisive point, and compensation is paid with no deduction for depreciation (new for old).
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
How is an inflatable boat protected during storage?
The insurance cover applies in winter storage as well as during craning, launching and in transit. There, limited hull cover covers fire, storm, lightning strike and the theft of the entire boat.
Can a boat from the nineties still be insured?
Yes. We insure regardless of the year of construction, the place of purchase and previous owners. Compensation is based on the agreed value that was set, in the Premium tariff without an age limit.

Nautical information What counts before you cast off, papers, equipment, waters
Licence
Required inland and at sea from 15 hp (11.03 kW); below that, none.
Registration
Registration from 3 hp; carry the boat certificate on maritime shipping routes.
Waters
Inland lakes, the coast and the Wadden Sea, mind the tide tables and the fairway.
Equipment
Lifejackets, paddles, pump, repair kit, anchor gear and signalling equipment.
Cruising range
RIBs close to the coast; check air pressure before every trip and after temperature swings.
Weather
From Beaufort 4 the ride turns hard, and offshore wind sharply raises the risk of drifting.
General guidance, not a complete account; what governs are the rules of the waters you are on and your boat’s manual. Current wind force and direction for your waters are shown on the Home.
Series by Twister Boats, build years and cover
Ocean Pro 6.3 is an inflatable without engine from Twister Boats, built from 1997 to 2005.
Twister 7.0 is an inflatable without engine from Twister Boats, built from 1997 to 2005.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
Even without an engine the rule holds: a tear from impact or vandalism is covered, UV ageing is wear.
