Zygal Boats; cover, cost and conditions
Two ranges are recorded under Zygal Boats: the Limbo 6.6 as a sailing yacht and the Condor as an open catamaran, built between 1971 and 1983. A narrow programme that lies far in the past is no exclusion for us, because small series and home-built boats can be insured.
Further information on size, country or type of construction is not available, so it stays with these two ranges. For the premium the type of boat, value, year of construction, sail area and cruising range of your boat count in any case, and the agreed value fixes the value in the contract.
For the open catamaran the same cover applies as for a monohull: third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros, plus limited hull cover or full hull cover as you choose. Club races are included from Basis-Plus, and the boat trailer is included at no extra premium.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Do you also insure home-built boats made to someone else's design?
Yes. We accept small series and home-built boats. The value is agreed as an agreed value, and in full hull cover the deduction for depreciation (new for old) does not apply, in the Premium tariff with no age limit.
What applies to an open catamaran?
The scope corresponds to that of a monohull. For the premium the type of boat, value, year of construction, sail area or engine output and cruising range count, not the brand.
The cover that fits
For the whole class of boat
What matters for catamarans and multihulls is the same across every brand; engine output, how a claim is settled, cruising range and theft protection. The class page lists every point and every brand in this class.

Series by Zygal Boats, build years and cover
Limbo 6.6 is a sailing yacht from Zygal Boats, built from 1976 to 1983.
Condor is an open catamaran from Zygal Boats, built from 1971 to 1978.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
Open catamarans are beached and trailed, so most damage happens ashore and in transit, not on the water.
