Botnia; cover, cost and conditions
From the H-Boot to the Targa range, that is the span of what sails under the name Botnia; the Targa 35 has been built since 1995 and many further Targa models are still in production today. If a boat is trailered, launched or craned, hull cover remains in place throughout, and the boat trailer is included in the contract at no extra premium.
An H-Boot from Botnia is already insured in our own portfolio. For the premium, type of boat, value, year of construction, engine power or sail area and cruising range count, not the brand name. Every boat of the brand thus receives a rating that matches its design and its use.
With 40 recorded model ranges the programme is broad; the Targa models are registered as motorboats and motor yachts. For new and used boats alike the following applies: third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros as the basis, full hull cover with an agreed value and with no deduction for depreciation. Up to a sum insured of 2.5 million euros you can take out the policy online.

Yes. Cover applies during craning, during launching, on the transport route and in winter storage itself.
Does the trailer of a Botnia boat cost a premium of its own?
No, the boat trailer is included in the boat insurance at no extra premium. Cover also applies during launching and on the transport route; an H-Boot of the brand is already sailing in our portfolio.

Licence
A powerboat licence (inland or coastal) is required from 15 hp (11.03 kW).
Registration

As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
