Worth knowing
Kimple; cover, cost and conditions
Kimple builds compact GRP fishing boats between 4.5 and 6 metres in Poland, open boats and console versions for inland lakes and rivers, in the low-price segment. They are entry-level boats for fishing, often the first boat someone buys. With boats worth under 10,000 euros the sensible cover is third-party liability: it covers personal injury, property damage and financial loss to third parties and costs from about 49 euros a year.
When fishing from a boat there is one liability case that is often overlooked: the cast. A lead weight or a treble hook that hits another boater or a swimmer is personal injury for which you are liable. Losses of this kind are covered by boat third-party liability, not by hull insurance. Anyone fishing on busy waters faces a real risk here and should not choose the smallest limit of indemnity.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Does boat third-party liability cover damage while fishing?
Yes, including personal injury caused by a cast or by tackle, these are losses you cause to third parties through the use of the boat. Hull insurance does not cover them, it is there for your own boat.

As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
