Worth knowing
Maine Cat; cover, cost and conditions
Four cabin catamarans are recorded: the MC P-47 with years of construction from 2006 to 2022, the MC 41 since 2007 as well as the MC 30 and the MC 38 since 2012. We insure multihulls with the same modular system of third-party liability, limited hull cover and full hull cover as monohulls, according to the details of the individual boat.
The cruising range is one of the details that determine the premium. Whether you stay on inland waters or sail along the coast makes a difference, as do the type of boat, value, year of construction and sail area or engine power. For journeys abroad the international certificate of insurance is available in ten languages.
The full hull cover works with an agreed value and pays compensation with no deduction for depreciation (new for old), in the Premium tariff with no age limit. Collision, grounding, vandalism and theft of parts including the outboard are covered. The hull insurance knows no time window and no night-time clause.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Can an MC P-47 from the production period up to 2022 be given full hull cover?
Yes. In the Premium tariff the full hull cover applies with no age limit, with an agreed value as the basis and with no deduction for depreciation (new for old). The year of construction, the place of purchase and previous owners are no obstacle to acceptance.
Does a separate tariff apply to a catamaran?
No, the same levels Basis, Basis-Plus and Premium apply. Third-party liability covers 10 to 50 million euros, limited hull cover and full hull cover can be built on top of it, and a trailer is included at no extra premium.

Series by Maine Cat, build years and cover
MC 30 is a cabin catamaran from Maine Cat, built since 2012.
MC 38 is a cabin catamaran from Maine Cat, built since 2012.
MC 41 is a cabin catamaran from Maine Cat, built since 2007.
MC P-47 is a cabin catamaran from Maine Cat, built from 2006 to 2022.
As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On catamarans the bridgedeck between the hulls is the sensitive part, and the berth belongs in the application: double width often means a mooring rather than a marina.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
