Sportcraft; cover, cost and conditions
Sports boats and smaller motor yachts characterise the recorded programme of Sportcraft: the Sprint ranges from 1987, the Avanza models from 1986 and the WA ranges from 1997 to 2006. Production ended in all ranges before 2007. A Sprint 1600 is insured with us.
A loss is covered whether it occurs in the afternoon or at night at the jetty. Full hull cover includes collision, grounding, vandalism and theft of parts including the outboard.
For boats of these build years the agreed value counts: it is agreed when cover is taken out and compensated with no deduction for depreciation (new for old), in the Premium tariff with no age limit. Engine output, value, year of construction and cruising range determine the premium, while the brand stays out of it.

Frequent questions
Does hull cover also apply at night at the berth?
Yes. Vandalism, theft of parts including the outboard and theft of the entire boat are covered accordingly.
How do I insure a Sportcraft Avanza from the eighties?
Just like any other boat. The year of construction, the place of purchase and previous owners are no obstacle, and full hull cover runs on an agreed value with no deduction for depreciation (new for old).

Licence
A powerboat licence (inland or coastal) is required from 15 hp (11.03 kW).
Registration

On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
