If, in the case of the insured person, a permanent need for long term care within the meaning of section 61a of Book XII of the German Social Code (SGB XII), or a mental illness is determined by a doctor, you may cancel the cover retrospectively with effect from the time of that determination. A person is mentally ill who, because of a permanent and severe mental or psychological illness, can no longer take part in general life and requires residential accommodation or constant supervision.
