The 66th Salone Nautico in Genoa runs from 1 to 6 October 2026. The organiser, Confindustria Nautica, presented the figures in Milan on 15 September 2026: more than 1,000 boats, 215 new models and exhibitors from 45 countries across five continents. The in water display area grows by four per cent compared with the previous edition.
The date itself is the real news. For years the show sat in September, and it now returns to October. The organiser explains the move with the industry calendar: October puts more distance between Genoa and the shows in Cannes and Monaco, exhibitors no longer have to leave their customers in mid season, and larger units find space in Genoa again.
For owners in Germany, Austria and Spain that means one plannable week at the end of the season instead of another show in an already crowded September. Anyone keeping a boat in the Mediterranean can combine the visit with the last trip of the year or with laying up. Buyers see the models of the coming season earlier than at the winter shows further north.
What this means for owners
A boat show is where an interest turns into a contract, and that is where the gaps open up. Before a handover in Genoa it is worth settling in writing when the risk passes to the buyer, who is responsible for the delivery passage to the home berth, and how sea trials are treated. The same questions apply to motor boats, sailing yachts, catamarans and rigid inflatables, including the trailer that buyers routinely forget. Delivery trips shortly after a purchase are a recurring theme in claims files.
