Alukin builds welded aluminium boats in Sweden between 6.5 and 8.5 metres: open boats, console boats and cabin versions for the skerry coast and the Baltic. The aluminium hull forgives grounding where GRP breaks: a dent can be repaired, a torn laminate often cannot. That lowers the risk of a total loss but shifts it to the drive, because the outboard takes the impact unfiltered.
Alukin boats are used a great deal in uncharted skerry waters, where grounding is not an exception but an operating risk. Full hull cover includes grounding along with consequential damage to the drive and the propeller, limited hull cover does not. On a boat whose hull shrugs off the damage and whose drive absorbs it, full hull cover is the component that counts, so adjust the deductible rather than dropping it.

Is the outboard covered in the event of grounding?
Under full hull cover yes, including consequential damage to the propeller and the gearbox. Limited hull cover does not include grounding, and when sailing in skerry waters that is the decisive difference.
