Worth knowing
Fiberline Boote; cover, cost and conditions
The G range from Fiberline is the classic small GRP boat: light, inexpensive, driven with an outboard and often used as a fishing boat. The hull value is rarely more than a few thousand euros, and the engine is regularly worth more than the boat. That is precisely why it belongs in the contract with its serial number.
With boats of this size third-party liability is the real protection. Personal injury is not measured by the value of the boat, and the higher level of the limit of indemnity costs only a few euros more per year. Hull insurance is worthwhile above all because of trailer use and theft.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Is hull insurance worthwhile on a small GRP boat?
Above all because of the engine, transport and theft. The hull alone rarely justifies it.
Is the outboard insured as well?
Under full hull cover yes, including theft, provided it is stated in the contract with its serial number.

For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
