Finval builds aluminium boats between 5.5 and 8.5 metres, open console boats and cabin versions with a welded hull, designed for the Baltic, large lakes and river mouths. The boats are robust and are frequently used for fishing and for long trips. For aluminium boats the rule is: the hull is practically indestructible, the engine and the electronics make up the value. List the two separately in the sum insured.
With aluminium boats, electrolysis is the risk you do not see until it is too late. An incorrectly wired shore power connection or a spent sacrificial anode eats through hull and drive within one season, and corrosion resulting from neglected anode care is not covered, because it counts as wear. An annual anode check and a galvanic isolator on the shore power supply are not a recommendation but a precondition when the berth is in salt water.

As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
