In Florida, Monterey builds bowriders, deck boats and sport cruisers between 5.5 and 13 metres. The boats come with a sterndrive or an outboard, and in Europe almost without exception as imports. For imported American boats a rule applies to the valuation that is often ignored: the replacement value in Europe is higher than the US purchase price, because freight, import and conversion are added to it. The agreed value should reflect the European figure.
The second point with imported boats is the CE marking. A boat without a CE category may not be placed on the market in the EU, and the category determines which sea area it is designed for. For the insurance this is the basis for choosing the cruising range: a boat in category C is built for waters close to the coast, not for the Bay of Biscay. Cruising range and design category should match.
