In Rosenheim, Prijon builds kayaks from blow-moulded HTP plastic, a process that makes the hulls considerably stiffer and more impact resistant than rotationally moulded polyethylene. Seayak and Kodiak are sea kayaks for multi-day tours, and there is also a wide whitewater range. The choice of material is relevant for the insurance: HTP hulls withstand contact with rock that would damage a composite boat.
We underwrite kayaks in hull insurance, legal expenses cover and personal accident cover. We do not offer a separate boat third-party liability policy for muscle-powered craft; as a rule your private liability insurance applies instead, and you should check it on this point: not every private liability policy expressly includes watercraft. A call to your insurer settles this in five minutes and is the most important preparation.
The most frequent damage to sea kayaks does not occur on the water but during transport on the car roof and in storage. A kayak that sags on two supports over the winter deforms; that is a consequence of storage and is not covered. Covered are theft, storm damage, fire, transport damage and damage caused by collision. On tours the luggage can be included as accessories if it is stated in the application.

Yes, transport damage with suitable means of transport is included. Use a proper carrier and secure the bow and the stern; improper loading calls the cover into question.
