Buying as a package has a practical advantage for the insurance: boat and trailer are on one invoice, the supports are adjusted at the factory, and proof of value is beyond dispute.
Declare the trailer separately in the application nonetheless, with manufacturer, payload and chassis number. It is then included at no extra premium. Without this declaration, only the value of the boat would be covered if boat and trailer were stolen, and with a larger trailer the difference runs into four figures.
The most frequent trailer losses are theft and corrosion, not accidents. A wheel clamp and a coupling lock help against theft, and rinsing with fresh water after every launching helps against corrosion. Corrosion is wear and cannot be insured; theft is covered in full hull cover. In both cases prevention is worth more than the policy.

Yes. Even when bought as a package it belongs in the application with manufacturer, payload and chassis number, otherwise only the value of the boat is covered in the event of theft.
Is corrosion on the trailer insured?
