Waterway vignettes and boating fees by country
Taking a boat abroad means different charges in every country: an annual vignette in one place, dues at your first port of call in another, waterway and lock fees or a tourist tax for the crew somewhere else. This page brings together what our country pages document with a source.
If a fee is not documented there, it is not listed here either. Every entry names its source, and each country links to its country page with the rules on licences, liability cover and equipment.

Croatia
Vignette, tourist tax and arrival
| Detail | Source |
|---|---|
To sail in Croatian waters you buy a vignette, the fee for maritime safety. It is valid for the calendar year, however long you stay. | |
According to ADAC, you pay online via eNautika or at a harbour master’s office, but online payment only works for boats already registered. Check before you travel from which length and engine power the vignette applies and what it costs in 2026. | |
If your boat is longer than 7 m and has berths, you pay tourist tax for yourself and everyone on board, as a lump sum or per night via nautika.evisitor.hr before leaving port. Keep the receipt on board. | |
Arriving from another EU country, you no longer need to clear in, but your first stop must be a harbour master’s office. According to ÖAMTC, a crew list is then no longer compulsory, though recommended. | |
Boats arriving in Croatia from outside Schengen must first call at a port with an open border crossing, with exceptions such as emergencies or engine failure. | |
Bringing your boat by trailer? According to ÖAMTC, register it with the nearest harbour master’s office before launching. |

| Detail | Source |
|---|---|
Pleasure boats over 7 m in Greek waters pay the TEPAI charge, private or commercial and whatever their flag. | |
You pay online via eTEPAI with the tax authority AADE, at the latest on the first day of entry and then before each further month begins. | |
Rates according to ADAC: EUR 16 a month for 7 to 8 m, EUR 25 for over 8 to 10 m, EUR 33 for over 10 to 12 m and EUR 8 per started metre above 12 m. You pay for full calendar months, with 10 percent off for 12 months paid in advance. Check the official 2026 rates before you travel. | |
Boats arriving from outside the Schengen area, for example from Turkey, may only enter at designated ports of entry. According to the RYA, boats from non-EU countries have needed a Transit Log on arrival since 1 January 2021. | |
According to ADAC, the crew list must reach the port authority of your destination 6 hours before entry. Check the current rules for boats arriving from EU countries before you travel. |

The Montenegro vignette
| Detail | Source |
|---|---|
The vignette is a fee per metre of length for the use of Montenegrin maritime safety services. | |
Private boats up to 7 m pay per metre EUR 0.50 for 24 hours, EUR 1.00 for 7 days, EUR 2.00 for a month and EUR 6.00 for a year. | |

Cantonal permit for foreign boats

Fees and amounts change, often at the turn of the year. Before you set off, check the listed source for what applies today, and keep the receipt for any vignette or dues on board.
Road tolls and vignettes for the drive with your trailer are covered by the trailer route planner. Which papers belong on board is shown in the boat papers checklist.
