X Shore builds electric sports boats in Sweden with a cork deck and a minimalist superstructure; the Eelex 8000, at around eight metres and with a three-digit battery capacity, is the best-known model. Values in the mid six-figure range make the agreed value a must, and the young series means dependence on the manufacturer for repairs.
The battery is the largest single item and the critical position. On a boat with more than a hundred kilowatt hours of capacity, damage to the battery is practically a total loss of the battery, and that runs into five figures. Fire and thermal runaway are covered, including during charging; the charging infrastructure must comply with the yard's specification, and in practice that means a fixed connection with suitable fuse protection, not an improvised solution.
The second point is the hull. X Shore builds light in order to gain range, and a light hull is more complex to repair than a robustly laminated production hull. Factor that into the sum insured and check the deductible: on a boat of this class a medium level makes sense, because small amounts of damage to the cork deck and the topsides occur regularly.
